Pannal Sports U12 Clinch County Cup and League Double
25/04/10 A fantastic week for Pannal Sports under 12's winning the West Riding County FA Junior Shield and Harrogate and District A League title.
Sports delighted crowds midweek with a 3-1 victory over an excellent Selby Town thanks to a terrific team performance with goals by Ross White, Luke Watson and Jake McNulty. Trailing to an early goal Sports showed all their character, desire and quality to produce a fantastic all-round performance and a deserved victory. The win capped a wonderful cup run for boys playing their first season of 11 a-side in which they have beaten a number of highly-rated teams from around the county, including Horsforth St Margarets, Rothwell Juniors, Pollington Panthers and now Selby. Their cup-run has seen them play seven ties scoring 47 goals and conceding just 9.
Sports started well from the off but fell behind in just the 3rd minute. The equaliser came on 20 minutes courtesy of a great move finished and cool finish by Ross White. The second-half saw Sports up the tempo. The game turned on a devastating spell of Sports attacking. On 40 minutes, the ball fell to Luke Watson who used all his strength and pace to outstrip the defender and send a powerful shot past the keeper. Sports were flying and just three minutes later a great move was finished by Jake McNulty lobbing the keeper to make it 3-1. The final whistle was greeted by great celebrations on and off the pitch.
Just a few days later, Pannal Sports became League Champions with a 2-0 home win against Ilkley, thanks to second-half goals by Luke Watson and Keiron Dowler. The first goal came on 40 minutes from Luke Watson but started with great defending by Adam Barral. Sports won possession and turned defence into attack down the left hand side. The ball fell to Luke Watson who picked his spot from 25 yards with a delightful finish. Ilkley were breached again on 50 minutes with a great strike from Keiron Dowler who coolly steered the ball home from 25 yards out. All the boys have been a credit to their club and the local league.
Well done boys on a memorable week and fantastic achievement! << Back
